It starts with a simple, yet revolutionary concept: a watch that never needs a battery. Citizen Eco-Drive technology harnesses the power of light - from any natural or artificial light source - and converts it into energy which is stored in an Eco-Drive Energy Cell. How it works... Sunlight and any artifical light are absorbed through the crystal and dial. Citizen uses special filters which allow a wide range of dial colours and styles.

A solar cell beneath the dial converts any form of light into electrical energy to power the watch. With regular exposure to light, Eco-Drive continuously recharges itself for a lifetime of use.
